Independent practice for the NHBRC assessment
Know the Answer. Know the Clause.
277 practice questions for the NHBRC technical assessment, each marked with the SANS 10400 or SANS 2001 clause it comes from — so you learn the standard, not the letter.

Who is the most competent person that should design the Geotechnical solution?
Tap an answer — it is marked straight away.
The standard reserves this work for a “competent person (geotechnical)”. Definition 3.10 asks for more than registration: suitable experience in geotechnical site investigations or foundation design. A general civil engineer does not automatically hold that experience, and an inspector checks work rather than designs it.

How Our Practice Tests Mark You
80% to pass, 90 minutes on the clock. Deliberately stricter than the reported mark, and not a claim about the real assessment.
Practice settings of this product
This app does not register you as a builder.
Registering with the NHBRC is a separate process handled by the NHBRC itself, with its own documents, fees and steps. See our guide to NHBRC registration. This app only helps you prepare for the technical assessment that registration includes.

All questionsIs this the official NHBRC exam?
No. This is independent study material to help you prepare. It is not produced by, endorsed by, or affiliated with the National Home Builders Registration Council, and passing here is not a qualification.
What can I use without paying?
Ten questions on this website, marked as you go with the SANS reference behind each answer, and no account needed. In the app it is 20 questions and a short practice test. An account is only for saving your results and taking the timed test.
Is it a subscription?
No. Full Access is a single payment of R340. It never expires and it never renews.
Where do the questions come from?
They are our own work, written against the published SANS 10400 and SANS 2001 standards and the NHBRC home builder manual, the same documents the assessment draws on. They are practice questions, not the assessment’s questions.
I paid, but a new phone shows me as unpaid.
